MathCounts

For students with a high interest and ability in mathematics. Students work on a variety of higher level math problems. They learn various strategies for solving problems. Practices are held weekly to prepare students for chapter and state competitions in the spring.

Students will work on math websites, participate in quick recall type matches, work individually on problems and work with cooperative groups on team problems. The team will also submit an entry for the state t-shirt contest.

Requirements

6th, 7th, and 8th Grade. Students with a high interest and ability in Math. Students need to come to as many meetings as possible. As we get closer to competition, the official competitors will be chosen. All students are eligible to take the individual test.

Time Frame

Once a week - September through March. Chapter competition will be held on a Saturday in February at U of L.

Cost

There will be a fee of $20 to cover entry costs.

Math Club

For students interested in completing problems for the MathCounts Club Program. We have received the gold award in the past years and will try to do so again this year.

Requirements

Open to 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade who enjoy math.

Time Frame

September through May.
