Student Technology Leadership Program

STLP

There are two STLPs, one is a Related Arts class and the other is an after school program.

Students in the Related Arts class will play a big role this year helping to maintain the Noe Website. They developed the homepages for each Team and Related Arts class. Then they will post weekly homework on each of these sites. STLP RA will learn troubleshooting techniques to help teachers and students to utilize the computers in the building more efficiently. They learn how to maintain the laptop computers and help in making sure that these computers get to the correct class in the morning and that they are charging for the next day's class. They will create how to instructions to help students and teachers utilize important software. STLP RA is open to only 7th and 8th grade students and they may take the class for two years. These students will compete in the local and state competitions for STLP students during the entire year.

Students in the after school program will meet after school to learn about different technologies. They will choose a technology of which they are interested, then become familiar enough that they can teach others to use the technology. The students will share their knowledge with teachers and other students. Examples of technologies available at Noe: Digital camera, Digital video camera, Web design, Word Processing, Database, Spreadsheet, PowerPoint, Presentation tools, and Smart boards. This group is open to all students, grades 6 through 8.

This year we will also be working with a Robotics program and will compete in a competition for state in May.

Students can participate in District and State competitions for members of STLP, including the Showcase of Schools in October, University of Louisville showcase in December, the Kentucky Teaching and Learning Conference in March, and the statewide STLP Competition in Lexington in May.
