Mr. Chris Burba, Principal

Born and raised in Louisville, Ms. Mitchell is a product of the JCPS system graduating from DuPont Manual High School. Ms. Mitchell earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary English Education in 1994 from the University of Kentucky, her Masters of Arts degree in Secondary Guidance Counseling in 1997 from Eastern Kentucky University, and her Principal Certification in 2004 from Indiana University Southeast.  Ms. Mitchell has served as an educator for 18 years as a High School Language Arts teacher, a High School Guidance Counselor, an Elementary Principal Intern, and a Middle School Assistant Principal. 

Ms. Mitchell is the proud mother of two daughters, Taylor and Karrington.  Taylor is in the 9th grade at Male High School and Karrington is in the 5th grade at St. Matthews Elementary. She is also the proud mother of two “furry” sons, a feisty boxer named Titus and a laid-back beagle named Lucky.  In her spare time Ms. Mitchell enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and gardening.  While at Meyzeek Ms. Mitchell believes that she has one primary job: Provide an environment that optimizes student safety, student learning, and student growth.  She believes that when given the opportunity, all students possess the ability and intrinsic desire to learn at high levels both academically and socially.  Through the collaborative efforts of both parents and the school, Ms. Mitchell believes that thoughts can become actions, ideas can become plans, and dreams can become realities.
