Research Lab

Jefferson County Traditional Middle School (JCTMS) teachers and students have access to state-of-the-art technology and print materials in the Research Lab. Teachers and Library Media personnel collaborate to provide dynamic learning experiences for JCTMS students.
 
Our 21st Century wireless lab has 31 laptops and a teacher laptop computer. There is an 87" SMART Board with a short throw projector, an Instant Response Classroom Performance System, a wireless slate, and a laser printer. There is access to BrainPop, Enchanted Learning, and CultureGrams databases along with Kentucky Virtual Library (KYVL) and all of the Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) links to connect students to core content in a meaningful way.

Student Policies and Procedures

Book Checkout

  • Students must have their agenda with their patron barcode in order to check out.
  • Students may check out books or audio CDs for three weeks.
  • A book may be renewed if no one else has requested it.
  • Students may check out two books at a time at the beginning of the year and up to four after the first check-out and return cycle.
  • Students may check out books when they come to the Library Media Center with their class or when a teacher allows them to visit the center with a signed agenda.
  • Students may check out a magazine or reference book for five days.

Library Fines

  • The charge is $.05 a day for each overdue item.
  • The maximum fine for each overdue item is $2.
  • Lost, destroyed, or damaged book fines are approximately $20 for hardback books, $7 for paperback books, and $35 for reference books.
  • It is the responsibility of the student to return books.
  • Missing or late materials need to be addressed with the librarian.
