Membership

We are well on our way of making our goal of 300 members! We currently have 171 members who have joined so far. Congratulations to our first gift card winner, Paula Hughes! Thank you to Wal-Mart in Fern Creek for donating this gift card. We are asking that every student and at least one parent join the PTSA. Joining the PTSA does not require any commitment to volunteer your time, unless you want to. Joining the PTSA is just an easy way to show your support for your child’s school and it helps fund school and PTSA programs and events that will benefit all students! We will have many gift card drawings and team contests for those that are members during the school year. Students who are members will get to participate in special PTSA dress down days! Students need to join the PTSA to be able to participate. You can also use your membership card to receive discounts at various retailers. On the back of this newsletter is a membership form you can fill out and send in to the school. Thanks to everyone for their support.

Fundraiser

Our fundraiser has begun! For the first time, we are selling pre-portioned frozen Cookie Dough! A huge amount of PTSA funds comes from this fundraiser; please help us make this a success! Our goal is for every student to sell at least 5 boxes of cookies. Be sure to turn in orders, money and permission slips no later than 9/8. We have incentives for students and teams that sell the most cookie dough including, cash, prizes, and a limo ride! Look for updates in October’s newsletter. Thanks for your participation and support!

Volunteering or Board Position

Although our kids are getting older, it doesn’t seem like they need us as much. But they do, and the school does to. If you are interested in volunteering some of your time; would like to serve on the PTSA Board this year; or are interested in the 2010/2011 PTSA Board, please fill out the form on the back side of this newsletter and send it in to the school office, or email cmsptsa@insightbb.com.

Carrithers Decals

Show your school spirit! Brand new Carrithers decals are on sale now for $1.00. Fill out the form on the back of this newsletter and send in money and order form to the school and we will deliver them to your student’s class as soon as possible!

KY Kids Day

September 22 is a day that Kentucky celebrates all kids! We will recognize this day by giving all of our students at Carrithers a special prize during lunch to let them know we appreciate them!

Picture Day

September 18^th is Fall picture day. These are the pictures that will be in the yearbook. Students may dress down for $1. Students that are PTSA members do not have to pay this $1. This money will be divided up amongst each grade to help with funding of field trips, etc. If you would like to volunteer to help out with picture day and are available between the hours 8-1, please call the school at 485-8224 or email us.

Reminders

The CMS YSC is always in need of clothes, especially uniforms and belts. These items go directly to Carrithers students who need them. We participate in programs with both Office Depot and Target. Office Depot - CMS ID # 70040572 Target - CMS ID is 54468. Thanks for all of your support!

Weight Watchers at Work Meetings

Last year the school organized a Weight Watchers at Work Group - with great success. They would like to organize another group for this fall. A representative from WW comes in to lead the meetings and provides not only inspiration, but support and lots of great ideas. They are still working on details, but meetings would be once a week, around 3 pm, and approximately $12 a meeting.
