Membership

We currently have 260 members! That is amazing! This month we are excited to announce that we are having a Costume Contest on October 30^th for all students that are PTSA members!! (No face masks or props allowed. Good judgment is expected in selecting a costume). Look for more info to come! Joining the PTSA is an easy way to show your support for your child’s school and it helps fund school and PTSA programs and events that will benefit all students! We will have many gift card drawings and team contests for those that are members during the school year. Students who are members will also get to participate in special PTSA dress down days! Students need to join the PTSA to be able to participate in any of these events. You can also use your membership card to receive discounts at various retailers. On the back of this newsletter is a membership form you can fill out and send in to the school. Thanks to everyone for their continued support.

Fundraiser

Cookie Dough will be delivered to the school on 10/8! If you know that your student has a large order, please come into the school to pick up. The numbers are being totaled and finalized…look for more info on top sellers; dress down, roll the dice and limo ride dates soon! Thank you so much for everyone that participated!

National Bully Prevention & Awareness Week

This week, 10/7-10/9, Carrithers teachers and students will be discussing ways to prevent bullying. The PTSA is hanging up fliers throughout the school with the motto “Be a Friend…Stop Bullying Now”. We are distributing informative fliers and bookmarks to all students. You can go to www.StopBullyingNow.hrsa.gov for more info.

Red Ribbon Week 10/19 - 10/23

The PTSA will hand out “I Pledge to Be Drug Free” stickers to all students during this week. We are having a door decorating contest that students will be participating in and the winning class will win a special prize! On Friday, 10/23, all students are asked to Wear a Red Shirt to show their commitment to be Drug Free!

Picture Day

Fall & Yearbook Picture Retake Day will be on November 19th. We are also having group/sports pictures on this day. Look for order forms to come home with your student.

KY Kids Day

September 22^nd was Kentucky Kids Day! We recognized this day by giving all of our students at Carrithers a mechanical pencil, candy, popper toy, notebook, and a “Carrithers Students are the Best” sticker!

Volunteering or PTSA Board Position

If you are interested in volunteering some of your time; would like to serve on the PTSA Board this year; or are interested in the 2010/2011 PTSA Board, please fill out the form on the back side of this newsletter and send it in to the school office, or email cmsptsa@insightbb.com.

Carrithers Decals

Show your school spirit! We still have some car decals for sale! Brand new Carrithers decals are only a $1.00. Fill out the form on the back of this newsletter and send in money and order form to the school and we will deliver them to your student’s class as soon as possible!

Reminders

The CMS YSC is always in need of clothes, especially uniforms and belts. These items go directly to Carrithers students who need them. We participate in programs with both Office Depot, Target and Meijer. Office Depot - CMS ID 70040572 Target - CMS ID is 54468. Meijer – CMS ID is 83649. Next time you’re shopping at any of these stores, simply go to the customer service desk or ask a cashier to be sure a percentage of your purchase amount goes to Carrithers!
