STLP

Purpose of the course: Students will also learn basic computer maintenance and trouble shooting to address technology problems in the school. Students will be responsible for providing training to students, staff and the community on the use of technology including Microsoft Office and web design. They will be lab assistants when needed.

Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP): The students who become part of this class will become Student Technology Leaders at Waggener. They will become members of a statewide organization, STLP. The purpose of this program and this course is to develop student technology leaders for Waggener. STLP is a state recognized program that promotes active student involvement in the technology implementation of schools. Through this program, they must be willing to provide technology-related community service throughout the year.

Students who are interested in this class must be responsible, have initiative, have a high interest in learning technology and be independent learners. Students do not have to be experts in technology to apply for this class, just have a desire to learn.

Enrollment procedures:

1. Submit a typed resume to Mr. Forbes
   
2. Submit a STLP information sheet
   
3. Submit a reference sheet completed by a Waggener teacher or staff member.
   
4. Take part in an interview (you must have submitted a resume, information sheet and reference before you will be invited for an interview)
   
   

Note: Only 5 to 10 students will be selected to participate in this class. The selection of the team will be based on a variety of factors including grade level, experience (leadership and technology), and teacher recommendation.

Mrs. Stearman in 214 lab is available to help with developing your resume. She can give you helpful hints!
