No Power?
- Are both your computer and monitor plugged in?
- Are your computer and monitor connected together?
- If your computer is plugged into a power strip, is the strip turned on?
- If your computer is plugged into a wall outlet, is the outlet live? You can check this by plugging in another computer or electric appliance into the outlet to see if it has power.
- Are all cords plugged in and attached? Check connections (especially the keyboard) to make sure that they are attached.
- Make sure you have selected the right printer. To do this:
- Go to the Start menu. Go to Settings, then to the printer icon.
- In the Printers folder, make sure that you have the correct printer selected. If not, select the desired printer, go to the File menu, and then click Default.
- Check your network connections, both at the computer and at the wall.
- Verify that the printer power is on, working properly, and loaded with paper. If there is a problem, an error message will appear on your screen and/or your printer icon will flash. (The icon appears on the bottom right-hand corner of your screen when you send a document to the printer.)
- To find out the status of your document, double-click the printer icon (located on the bottom right of your Toolbar). A window will then open showing you the status of your print job.
- Ask a colleague if they can access E-mail. Perhaps the server is down or undergoing maintenance.
- Check your network connection. Generally, you can:
- Go to the Start button, up to the Settings icon, and then select Control Panel.
- Once you're in Control Panel, click the Network icon to see if you're logged on. The Primary Network Logon will tell you.
