Advance Program
The Advance Program is designed for the top 3% of the academically gifted students. A student must maintain a 3.0 G.P.A. and have 12 Advance Program credits earned over four years.
Advance Program Requirements (student must maintain 3.0 GPA):
- 12 credits in Advance Program/Advanced Placement classes
- Accepted into the Advance Program through JCPS requirements
- Be able to write proficiently or with distinction on Open Response Questions, On-Demand
prompts and on Portfolio pieces
- Maintain an honorable disciplinary record
- 4 Credits English
- 2 Credits Computer Arts & Science Program
- 3 Credits Mathematics (Graduation class 2012 - must take 4 math courses and must pass a Senior math class)
- 3 Credits Science (Biology I, Chemistry, and Physics)*
- 3 Credits Social Studies (Survey of Social Studies, World Civilization, and U.S. History)*
- 1 Credit Health and Physical Education
- 1 Credit in Advance Humanities
- 3 Credits Foreign Language
- 2 Credits of Electives
22 Credit Total (22 credits required - 28 credits available)
Honors Program
The Honors Program is designed for students who qualify to participate and maintain a 2.5 G.P.A. in accelerated classes. The program is a planned college preparatory curriculum that provides students with enriched experiences. Thirty-five percent of the Eastern High School participates in this program.
Honors Program Requirements (student must maintain 2.5 GPA):
- 12 credits in Honors or Advance Program/Advanced Placement classes
- Be able to write proficiently on Open Response Questions, On-Demand prompts, and on Portfolio pieces.
