The tennis team was a relatively young team with only two seniors. They made the best with what they had by finishing out the season 6th in both the LIT tournament and Regionals. One of Eastern’s very own, Pat Parris, pulled through to win the LIT. The highlight of the season came when Eastern defeated long time rival Atherton 3-2 after loosing for the past two years.
Next year looks to be a promising season with seniors Chris Cotton and Tyler Wedding leading the group. “I am excited for my senior year because I believe we are going to have a good team” says team captain, Chris Cotton. The team will be young and playing in the top region in the state hoping to achieve the same status or better as last year.

Last spring’s twelve-member team boasted one senior, six
juniors, two sophomores, and three new freshmen. "Our team
this year showed a lot of growth in their individual games as
well as team growth," says Coach Casey Staggs. "We
will be losing four very valuable seniors this year, so we will
be looking for fresh talent to combine with the leadership of
our seasoned players," commented Staggs.
Any potential new players can contact Coach Staggs for information
regarding tryouts for the upcoming season.
Despite being in a very competitive region that
is dominated by five private schools and having a few inexperienced
players, the girl’s team managed to make a name for themselves.
The record of this year’s team improved greatly compared
to that of last year’s team. Their dedication and determination
was the key factor in a complete turn around. Coach Staggs was
extremely proud of the girls’ hard work and effort. She
has high hopes for the team’s results as a new season
approaches.
