Newspaper PicThe Eastern Eagle is setting new standards in excellence.  With a larger staff, Eastern’s award-winning student newspaper can cover more news than ever before.  Working with a new printer has allowed the paper enhanced picture quality and color.  Next year, the paper plans to add a Web version with news updated weekly.

This year’s staff has lofty goals.  By the end of the year, they will have produced seven papers plus a special senior edition.  Articles range in topic, but all have a common thread: telling the stories of Eastern High School and its students.

The Eastern Eagle competes annually with the Eagle Talon yearbook in the Putt-Putt-a-thon, a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  This year’s event raised over $1,000 with over 40 students participating.  Though the Eagle staff would like to boast that they raised more money than the Talon staff, it simply did not happen.  Maybe next year.

With over 1,500 copies printed per issue, the Eagle enjoys a large readership that looks forward to distribution day.  The respect from peers, faculty, staff, and administration is what motivates them to soar to even greater heights.  Better than ever now, the Eagle will only continue to improve.
