After losing 5 seniors last season, 5 new seniors stepped up to help the Eastern volleyball team continue their winning ways.   The KVCA Pre-Season poll did not have Eastern ranked, but by the first season poll, the Eagles had soared their way to #11 seed.  The Eagles took control early in the season by placing 3rd at the Bluegrass State Games and by placing 2nd in the JCPS Championship losing to nationally ranked duPont Manual.  Junior setter, Jaclyn Ohlmann, and junior libero, Erin Hoffmann, were named to the All Tournament Team.

After losing senior right-side hitter, Treana Redd, to injury in the LICT, the Lady Eagles had disappointing finishes in both the LIVT and JCIVT. They perservered, however, and managed to end the searson with a very respectable 22-11 record. Lady Eagles took their 2nd consecutive District championship by beating Christian Academy for the title.  Senior hitters, Michelle Santo and Catherine Pfaadt, and junior libero, Erin Hoffmann, were named to the All District team.  Unfortunately, the Eagles were not able to get past nationally ranked Sacred Heart Academy and were ousted in the first round of the State tournament.  Junior middle, Alli Southard, was named to the All Regional Team for Eastern.  Congratulations to the Lady Eagles on another successful season.  We look forward to watching you continue your winning ways next season.

JV Volleyball Team

The primary goal of any Junior Varsity team, regardless of the sport, is to continue to learn and improve in order to build a strong Varsity team for the future. In that light, the Eastern JV volleyball team had a very successful 2009 season. Led by Coach Eric Brian the team finished with an 18-11 record. They started slowly, but gained momentum at mid-season by finishing as the runner-up in the Spencer County JV Tournament. The team continued to add to that momentum and closed out the season with another runner-up finish in the Dunbar JV Tournament in Lexington.

As a young team made up for the most part by Freshman and Sophomore players, they gained invaluable experience and their return should mean even more JV success in 2010.

Freshman Volleyball

As with any great program, developing talent for the future is critical to continued sucess. The Freshman Volleyball Team at Eastern attracts and accepts girls from a variety of schools, backgrounds and experiences. Therefore, it is critical to quickly develop good basic skills and push them beyond their comfort levels to ready them for the next level of volleyball.

The 2009 team while small in number was big on heart, dedication and determination. They ended the season with a 10-11 record, but we were very pleased with the growth and development of the players and everyone is excited to see them perform next season.
