Mr. Bill Finnegan

Mr. Finnegan has designed Wilder Elementary's guidance program to include ongoing
individual, small group, and classroom guidance services for our K-5 students. The
major focus of the guidance program will be to promote student success in academics,
career, and personal/social development.

A new feature of our guidance program will be the infusion of Character Education
across all aspects of the elementary school curriculum. The main purpose of the
Character Education component will be to foster the personal growth and social
development of each student attending Wilder Elementary. The ten character traits
that will be the core values during our classroom guidance are:

  • Altruism (Caring)
  • Citizenship
  • Courtesy
  • Honesty
  • Human Worth
  • Justice
  • Knowledge
  • Respect
  • Responsibility
  • Self-discipline

Mr. Finnegan provides information, consultation, and coordination of referral services and various assessment programs for students, parents, and staff. He serves as the chairperson for the School-Based Admission and Release Committee SBARC for Exceptional Childhood Education (E.C.E.) programs. Mr. Finnegan is Wilder's Assessment Coordinator and Student Council and Junior Achievment Coordinator. He is also a member of our Student Staff Support Team (SSST). Click here for more information.

Throughout the school year Mr. Finnegan will access various community resources that will provide support and services for students and parents. The counseling and guidance program at Wilder Elementary will promote high expectations for all students, as they prepare to become independent learners.
