School Technology Coordinator
Wheeler is a school committed to students learning to live in this digital age. There is a fulltime computer teacher to help the students learn the necessary skills to become computer literate. There is emphasis on teaching the skills such as keyboarding, wordprocessing, database, spreadsheet, telecommunications and multimedia.
We have a new computer lab and classrooms with new flat screen HP computers. Every room has a ceiling mounted projector and each teacher has received a tablet PC.
Wheeler feels it is necessary to provide this training to all students so they will be better prepared for their future and not be left behind or become one of the functionally "illiterate" in the new economy.
Wheeler has a state-recognized STLP where students no matter what economic, gender, ethnic background, or academic acheivement can learn more about technology and become a school leader in technology. It is the Mission of STLP to advance the individual capabilities, to motivate all students, and to create leadership opportunities through the use of technology.
Gifted and Talented Students have weekly meetings. In the past we have done Podcasting, Claymation and Robotics
