The Parent Teacher Association
PTA sponsors/supports Fall Festival, Skate Parties, Family Fun Night, and has provided funding for our playground, library, and Resource Center. St. Matthews Elementary PTA is also very active in recruiting volunteers for working with our children. We have parents, grandparents, and people from our community who work with our students, acting as tutors on a daily basis. This Web Site was designed and begun by a parent volunteer, Mr. George Puckett. It was completed by another parent, Libby Hardy, who also happens to be our technology/computer teacher. We are lucky to have such a hardworking group of parents. In 2005-06 St. Matthews Elementary was certified as a National PTA Parent Involvement School of Excellence. The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is very active. We have many parent volunteers who willingly give many hours to St. Matthews Elementary. The current PTA president is Helen Haverstick.
