JoAnn Archie, Counselor

Jefferson County Public Schools Counselors, in partnership with students, families, staff, community, and business, will prepare students to be successful lifelong learners. The K-5 comprehensive guidance program will provide teaching and modeling strategies that create and nurture a safe and positive teaching environment. Our K-5 Guidance Program provides the skills necessary for academic success, career planning, and personal and social growth.

At Sanders Elementary School, Ms. Archie has developed a Comprehensive Guidance Program to meet the needs of the students we serve. Currently, the program includes ongoing proactive and responsive services that include but are not limited to individual counseling, small groups and classroom guidance for kindergarten through fifth grade students. The primary objective of our guidance program is to promote success in academics, career and personal/social development. In addition, throughout the year, Mrs. Archie provides information, consults with staff members and coordinates services and assessment programs for students, parents and staff. She also serves as the chairperson for the School Based Admissions and Release Committee for Exceptional Childhood Education (ECE) programs. Mrs. Archie fully recognizes that the job of parenting can be challenging at times and plans to make sure that all Sanders' parents feel confident and comfortable enough to contact school personnel to discuss matters that are of concern to them.
