Newscast Team: Each year fourth and fifth grade students are encouraged to apply to be on the TIGER News team. On a rotating basis, they will participate in the daily TIGER NEWS broadcast. It is expected that the students accepted into the program will be good role models and maintain their grades at a satisfactory level.

Reading is Fundamental (RIF): Sanders is proud to be participating in RIF again this year. Founded in 1966, RIF is the oldest and largest children's and family nonprofit literacy organization in the United States. Our goal is to motivate students to read by putting books in the hands of all of our students. RIF provides us the opportunity to give each of our students a free book three times each school year. To find out more information about this program, please visit their web site.
Reading With Rover: Reading With Rover is a community-based literacy program. In the "Reading With Rover " program, children actually read stories to a dog! A child that is hesitant to read aloud to his peers is usually more than happy to read to a dog. Each dog is a registered Delta Society Pet Partner that has been specially trained for service with children and adults. Once a month representatives from "Reading With Rover" come to the Sanders Library so that our students will have the opportunity to read to "OUR" dogs.
