Gutermuth Elementary
School Profile
Gutermuth students stay on the reading fast track by participating in the Accelerated Reader Program. This systematic program encourages active reading and rewards participants with gold medals. At Gutermuth, a uniform dress code is required, which allows students to focus on the essential components of learning in a traditional environment. Basic skills in reading, mathematics, language arts, science, and social studies are the top priority at Gutermuth. These skills are included within all special areas such as art, music, computer education, and physical education. A caring atmosphere is created through the implementation of the Child Development Project. Remediation is available through Title I and Reading Recovery. Extended School Services also are offered to enhance learning. Parents are encouraged to become involved with the school through the PTA, volunteering to become mentors, or becoming members of the School-Based Decision Making Council. There is a Family Resource Center located on-site. Gutermuth also offers Early Childhood Jump Start programs for four-year-olds.
