Programs
Advanced Program
Dunn offers the Advance Program. This program is designed to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of students who need to be challenged to a high level of achievement in academic areas of strength. The program also provides them with enrichment experiences and training for creative and productive application of their learning while developing leadership skills. Students take the Advance Program test in the fall of their third-grade year. Results are sent to parents in February indicating the child's eligibility. Students begin the Advance Program in fourth grade and continue in fifth grade as long as they maintain a B (3.0) average.
Talent Pool
The Talent Pool consists of students in kindergarten through third grade who are identified as achieving one grade level higher in reading and/or math. These students receive targeted instruction designed to address their higher-level abilities and to encourage their accelerated learning capabilities.
Exceptional Child Education
ECE teachers provide targeted support and skill development based on the student’s Individual Education Program (IEP), enabling the special needs learner to achieve academic success.
Extended School Services
ESS at Dunn is designed to assist students who are performing below grade level in reading. Though ESS activities may occasionally be scheduled before or after the normal school day, Dunn students primarily receive these services during the school day in the form of targeted interventions conducted by highly qualified ESS teachers.
Childcare Enrichment Program
Dunn offers the YMCA Childcare Enrichment Program (CEP) for kindergarten through fifth-grade students. The CEP program operates year-round. Hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please contact YMCA School-Aged Child Care directly for questions regarding rates and availability.
