Cochran Facts
*Cochran Elementary was built in 1900 for the children of wealthy shipbuilders.
*It has gone through many social and economic changes since it was built in 1900.
*It was named after Gavin H. Cochran who was president of the Louisville School Board.
*Cochran is located in Old Louisville and is near the U of L college campus, Manual High School, Noe Middle School and The Youth Performing Arts School, providing many opportunities for interaction between schools.
*In 1991 the school was moved from 2nd and Hill to 500 W. Gaulbert Ave. The new building was necessary to provide the proper structure to include a state of the art media center and computer lab.
*School Colors: Blue and White
*School Theme: A Great Place to Learn
*School Mascot: Cochran Cats
*Cochran serves students in Pre-K through 5th grade.
*Cochran is a Health Promotions School of Excellence.
*Cochran has a Student Technology Leadership Program.
*The principal is Philip Poore and the Counselor is Linda Cunningham.
*Cochran's Family Resource Center provides many services to Cochran Families.
*Cochran provides Extended School Services (ESS) in the Spring and Fall.
