Puppy Care by Alyssa Jordan If you have a new puppy or maybe just adopted a new dog, then you will want to know how to give your new pet the best care possible. Caring for a dog is a big responsibility. If you do these things, loving your dog, exercising your dog and giving your dog a good home will get you a well trained and loving dog. Dogs are wonderful pets that can add so much joy and happiness to your family. Puppy training and puppy care can be great fun if you’ve done a good job choosing a dog breed. Even if you are choosing the right puppy for you and you’re excited about training and puppy care, you’ve got your work cut out for you. It is important that your pup has a safe place to sleep, free from drafts and harm. Place To SleepMany owners have their puppies sleep in an exercise pen, and although this can be a good choice, many puppies settle down quicker and sleep more soundly when they are snug and warm in a crate. Once your pup is older, out of the chewing stage, and completely housebroken, chances are that he/she will rarely use a crate except to travel. Never run after your dog to catch it. The dog will think that you are playing and run off. Puppy FoodWhen a puppy is first born it needs milk from its mother. When it’s out of it’s first stage it needs puppy food. When it’s older it needs dog food. Just hold out your hand and call or whistle softly. When your pup comes to you, pat it and give it a dog biscuit or a bit of food it likes. Puppy TrainingNever run after your dog to catch it. The dog will think that you are playing and run off. When you want your dog to come to you just hold out your hand and call or whistle softly. When your pup comes to you, pat it and give it a dog biscuit or a bit of food it likes. Do this over and over. You can take your dog to dog school to obey you. You can teach your dog to sit, to stand, to come, and to do other tricks. They can be trained to be good pets. If you follow these steps you will get a well trained dog.
