Teacher Notes: Bowen is part of a District pilot program to teach Spanish 75 minutes each week to students in grades K, 1, and 2. We want our students to have a strong foundation that will prepare them not only to continue to learn Spanish in middle and high school but help prepare them for life. In today's global economy learning a language is not an option, it is a necessity and we want our students to have every opportunity available to them in the future.

During the last few weeks we have been talking about the different experiences of living in a community. Students also learned some safety measures they can use if needed in a Spanish setting. Our students have discussed and thought about the unique experience of a family while reading a book in Spanish.
