Bates Elementary participates in the Health Promotion School for Excellence (HPSE) program. This is a coordinated school health program designed to promote and maintain healthy lifestyles of studetns, staff and parents. Bates Health Promotions program strives to improve the school communities health knowledge, attitudes, skills, and behaviros. Bates has been an HPSE since 1993, one year after it was implemented. The school designes a plan of action each year of activities and lessons to encourage active lirfestyles an healthy eating. What is Practical Living? The curriculum that covers health, physical education, consumersim, and vocational studies. Students will have lessons that addres these components in thier classrooms and in fitness class. Fitness Testing Bates' students participate in fitness testing twice a year. These tests are as follows:
Market Day Fundraiser Information/Ordering Order forms are sent home monthly with an evening pick-up time. Bate earns a percentage of money to use towards fitness equipment, 5th grade trip and resources You can return your oder form to Mrs. Stone (care of the school office) or order online at http://www.marketday.com Account Number: 13755 If you have further questions, feel free to email Mrs. Stone or call the school. Fitness Class Students will have fitness once a week. A schedule for when your child has fitness will be sent home after the 2nd week of school. Students will need to wear tennis shoes on that day. Girls will also need to wear pants, skorts, or shorts. If they wear a dre, please wear shorts underneath. During fitness class, the students will work on sport skills, manipulation skills, team and individual sports, and cooperation. Sportsmanship and teamwork are encouraged throughout the school.
