




Wilkerson Elementary focuses on traditional values and technological studies to prepare students to become lifelong learners. As a Child Development Project school, Wilkerson places special emphasis on teaching students the basics in a caring environment. Students learn to appreciate literature, reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, and science. Computers are available in each classroom to enhance daily instruction in all subject areas. Wilkerson's Family Resource Center helps students and parents obtain assistance with health needs, counseling services, and additional resources through various human services agencies in Jefferson County. Wilkerson offers Early Childhood Jump Start programs for three- and four-year-olds, Extended School Services, and is a School-Based Decision Making school. The Health Promotion School of Excellence Program is infused into Wilkerson's Comprehensive curriculum to promote healthy attitudes, skills, and behavior for students, parents, and staff.
