Principal

Welcome to the Lincoln Elementary Performing Arts School website. Our aim is to provide excellence in education in a culturally diverse environment through developing creativity in the performing arts. We are a nurturing, success-oriented school where students, parents, staff, and community members work as a team to ensure the opportunity for each child to achieve success, become a productive citizen, and become a life long learner.

This year will be our second year as a CARE for Kids school. Our goal through this approach to teaching is to assist our students to grow up to lead responsible and productive lives in our society. This approach is based on the principle that children learn best when they have both academic and social-emotional skills. Some of the classroom practices that are at heart of the approach are:

• Morning Meeting -- gathering as a whole class to greet one another, share news, and warm up for the day ahead.
• Rule Creation -- helping students create classroom rules to ensure an environment that allows all class members to meet their learning goals.
• Positive Teacher Language -- using words and tone as a tool to promote children's active learning, sense of community and self-discipline and
• Collaborative Problem Solving -- using conferencing, role-playing, and other strategies to resolve problems with students.
  

The students at Lincoln Elementary Performing Arts School receive instrumental and vocal music instruction, dance and drama instruction, and a strong academic program in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. Our environment promotes high academic and creative achievement through exposure to the performing arts as integrated into the core curriculum. So in addition to teaching our students how to think, our teachers are committed to teaching them how to imagine.
