Ballard Book Club

The Ballard Book Club is open to students and faculty. Ms. Younkin is the sponsor for this group that meetsBook Worm once a month for lively discussion. Student members select the book they wish to read each month. Any book is a possible choice, since many different genres are read.

Any student or faculty member may join at any time. All that is required is reading the book before the next meeting (always a Friday after school). That's when the members get together, pull the library's easy chairs into a circle, and discuss the book while enjoying refreshments. Some of the recent selections are:

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
Hey, Baby, Sweetheart by Deb Caletti
The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton
The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien
Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi
Cell by Stephen King
Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

Midnighters: The Secret Hour by Scott Westerfeld
Stoner and Spaz by Ron Koertge
The Warrior Heir
by Cinda Williams China
