Sherlock Holmes (Volumes I and II) by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Mystery)
There cannot be a review for a specific story by Arthur Conan Doyle, because they are all wonderful and invigorating. Sherlock Holmes is split into two volumes, and includes four novels and around 30 short stories. (Each volume is 250-300 pages.)
Sherlock Holmes and his best friend and biographer, Dr. John Watson, solve crimes in
Victorian London (1800's to early 1900's). These heinous, baffling crimes seem to confuse all except the amazing, deducting Sherlock Holmes, who could tell any of you where you have last
been, and what you are like in personality just by examining your clothes.
All of the cases are very interesting and are confusing enough to ponder. It is always nice to read about the developing friendship between Holmes and Watson, which, in my opinion, is
the best part about the series. If you don't like mysteries, don't read this. Otherwise, I highly recommend it! - K. E.

But youre going to have to read it to find out her reason :)
I liked how Bethany explained every little thing with so much detail. I also like how she didnt blame God for everything that happened; she looked at it as a new beginning. I would recommend this biography to anyone who loves surfing or anyone who loves excitement . . . cause I was always wanting to read more! It was truly a great story of her life.

From 39,000 feet, somewhere above the Pacific Ocean, Tender Branson is flying on autopilot just waiting for his four engines to die and the empty commercial plane to take a nosedive into the vast Australian outback. He relives the events leading to his expected suicide in the cockpit of Flight 2039. Just like the story, the books pages decline from page 289, traveling backwards, always a constant reminder of Tenders lonely and inevitable death ahead.
The story is filled with outrageous satire. Tender was one of thousands of children produced by a Creedish Death Cult. He survived their deliverance and did not commit suicide when the government intervened upon their pious community and its secret crimes. He was sent to the outside world and worked for 10 years as a labor missionary to support his community. He became a celebrity for being the only survivor left, and eventually hired an agent who tried to present him as a powerful religious messiah.
This is notably one of the most original and breathtaking books today. Chuck Palahniuks savage and twisted imagination will trap your focus and please your senses. He has captured the minds of adolescents and adults alike to form a strong, loyal fan base known as, The Cult. - Margaret Wingenfeld

The Chosen by Chaim Potok (Realistic Fiction)

"He walked heavily out of the room, his shoulders stooped, his face old and torn with pain." This quote illustrates Potok's vivid language that can get you deeply involved with the book.
This is the story of a friendship between Danny and Rueven that begins after Danny hits Rueven in the eye with a line drive. The relationship continues in spite of obstacles, such as attending separate Jewish parochial schools that are intense rivals, and having fathers with opposing political views who exert powerful influences on their sons' lives. However, they eventually attend the same college, and share the same interest in excelling in different professions other than becoming Rabbis. The moral is to never let differences tear apart relationships.
I would recommend this book to someone who wanted to read a book with some history/background of the Jewish way of life, but one that is also just an all-around good book. It brings up distinctive events that many of us, as the readers, face in life whether we know it or not. Even the simple decision of learning to deal with troubles in life is one example of a connection the reader could have with the novel. - M. H.
