Guidelines for Use
- Use gates or stiles; do not climb on the fences. If you go through a gate, close it.
- Remember that farm and wild animals on the Nature Preserve are not pets. Students need to be kind and quiet. Respect their space! No touching! No feeding!
- Do not disturb the beehives!
- The barn is an area that requires supervision.
- Students are allowed in hayloft and open areas only!
- One person at a time may climb the ladder to the loft. Have a spotter at the bottom for safety. No jumping out of loft!
- Respect the privacy of the two houses and garages. Families live there. Use gravel roads to travel in the homestead areas.
- Stay in assigned groups.
- Look, listen, and learn!
- Keep safety in mind at all times.
- Rest rooms are composting toilets; please put only body waste and toilet paper in the toilets.
- Respect all life. This is their home. We are visitors.
- Stay on trails.
- All visitors are stewards or caretakers; clean up after yourself.
- Walking is the speed limit.
- Be aware of sinkholes, poison ivy, beehives, railroad crossings, and ticks.
- Use recycling containers.
In addition, see the rules that apply to all Kentucky State Nature Preserves.
