School Profile

The Youth Performing Arts School (YPAS) offers a very unique program to students in Jefferson County. One of only 100 schools of its kind in the nation, YPAS trains high school students for further study and careers in the performing arts. For those students who have the interest, ambition, and talent to pursue formal training, YPAS offers courses in dance, theater acting, musical theater, vocal music, piano, concert band, concert orchestra, and design and production.

Throughout the season, YPAS students perform on the school's Main Stage and Experimental Theatres. There are additional schoolwide performances as well, allowing all students a chance to spotlight their talents.

Performing arts classes are scheduled in two-hour blocks. Students take their academic classes at nearby duPont Manual High School.
