Student Work

When the United States was facing war in Iraq, our Social Studies teacher asked her students to write a paper on whether or not we should go to war. The following is one of the responses:
In some way we should go to war because of what they did to us on 9-11 and they killed all them people. They said,“ It was wosier then Pearl Harbor”, and that’s and that’s really bad. I think we should go over to Korea or Iraq and beat them half to death. Did I say half I meant kill them, kill them dead for what they did to the people in New York and the Twin Towers, they should die for that and everybody in America feel the same way I do. I want to see blood shed, Iraq soldiers screaming for their mothers, and everybody in America praying to god hoping that our soldiers make it out and back home safe, ok, and alive. But, another part of me says no because of the killing and the little kids that are going to die or get hurt I just hate picturing that stuff in my head. Plus, I don’t want to get drafted to the military and have to fight for my country, but, if I do I will, if I don’t I won’t. My family has lost many people in the WW2, so I know how it feels to lose people in the war that’s why I don’t want to get drafted. Because I might die and I might save the world, but you’ll never know until it happens.

Student Activities

Country of the month:

Mexico

At Spring Meadows School, we have been studying a different country each month. Some of the countries we have studied are: Germany, Poland, England, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, China and Japan. We've had hands on learning projects for each country and a luncheon at the end of each study. The meal was foods from the country of emphasis for the month. During the luncheon the students gave oral reports about the country that was studied and displayed their projects.

Our most recent country was Mexico. Each group made a piñata which was broken at the end of the luncheon. They also made God's Eyes.
