Westport Middle School

School Profile

Westport Middle School provides a balanced focus on academic achievement and personal growth. The 39.7 acre campus consists of two main buildings surrounded by beautiful athletic fields and pleasant residential neighborhoods.  Westport Middle School serves a diverse group of students from the city of Louisville and embraces the talents, skills, cultures, and traditions of our students and families.  The faculty and staff are dedicated to the concepts of scholarship, courtesy, respect, responsibility, and citizenship.  Westport addresses the needs of the whole child and supports them on a successful academic journey by providing all students the opportunity to achieve at high standards of excellence that while promoting self-esteem, self-reliance, self-confidence, and self-discipline.  Westport offers Advanced Program and Honors curriculum. 

Students explore arts and humanities through drama, field trips, concerts, guest speakers, and classroom activities.  Students also work closely with the community arts program and produce their own plays in Westport’s Black Box Theater and full gymnasium stage. In addition to studying the core curriculum of language arts, math, science, and social studies students have the opportunity to work on the school’s television station WKEY.  Westport Middle School students also participate in numerous extra curricular activities such as Ballroom Dancing, Yearbook, Drama Club, Math Counts, Chess, Student Council, BETA Club, STLP, and numerous athletic clubs.  Students have access to visual arts and computer technology via wireless internet that supports the curriculum in all classrooms.
