Drama

drama photoDrama Class is a class to work on voice work, theatre movement and on stage performances. Students are expected to participate in the exercises and will be graded on performance in the classroom. There will be a production for each grade level with 6th graders performing in December while 7th and 8th graders perform in the spring.

Students will also be responsible for some writing exercises as well as technology tasks. Students will learn about the history of theatre, behind the scenes jobs as well as performance techniques and theater games to increase self esteem, make it easier to step into new situations, strengthen listening skills and make interaction with others more comfortable and managable. Hopefully, all students will be able to manage public speaking fears and learn problem solving skills in drama class.

Teacher Profile

Ms. JJ has been at Noe for nine years. This is her sixth year as the drama teacher but not her first year with experience in performing arts. She spent 15 years in the video and TV production industry where she had a top-rated cable TV show for two years and worked as a freelance artist on many productions including movies and syndicated TV shows. She has also put on theatre productions at Noe (including writing directing and producing) and has been involved with theatre in some capacity since high school.

Her goals are to have a spring musical to showcase Noe's talented students, provide opportunties for students to develop their acting skills and to help students become better speakers, writers and performers.

Director: Kim Joiner-Johnson
