Growing up in a family of seven children, Mr. Burba quickly learned the importance of hard work, education, and independence.  He graduated magna cum laude from Western Kentucky University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in middle grades education and started teaching that fall in the same classroom where he sat as a student on his first day of middle school in the Nelson County School system.  Two years later, Mr. Burba moved to Louisville and taught seventh grade language arts at Farnsley Middle School.  While there, he also completed his Master of Arts in middle grades education from Western and then a Rank I in educational administration from the University of Louisville.  In 2005, he became an assistant principal at Westport Traditional Middle School where he saw very positive results from forming caring relationships with students, parents, and staff.

Mr. Burba is also affiliated with Indiana University Southeast where he teaches a middle grades methods class to graduate and undergraduate students at night during the spring semester.  He also serves on the board of directors of the Kentucky Middle School Association, the state’s only organization dedicated solely to middle level students.

Outside of school, Mr. Burba enjoys running and fitness, gardening, and playing fetch with Macy, his Pembroke Welsh Corgi.  He is excited about becoming part of the Meyzeek Mystique and invites parents and community members to contact him via email or phone anytime.
