| The Extended School Services (ESS) Program provides assistance for students needing extra help in their academic studies with a focus in Reading, Math and Language Arts. Students meet in groups according to their needs. Students will complete online or packet modules to help them refocus on needed skills and practice skills needed to be successful in the classroom. Students completing these modules will have their six-week grade changed to reflect work done during the completion of these modules. ESS sessions will also be held after school with the date and time set each year according the needs and funding. These sessions will be held for students who need extra, small-group activities to become proficient in math and/or reading skills and who did not meet the KCCT requirements for promotion into the next grade. Students receiving a Novice score in reading or math will complete modules until receiving acceptable level scores.
District policies require students to meet higher academic standards for promotion to the next grade. Students must score above a novice on KCCT tests for Reading and Math as well as receive a passing grade in these same classes for the school year. Students must also complete required pieces for their writing portfolio each year. Because of these requirements, Carrithers SBDM has developed and adopted a policy concerning our stand on this issue. The policy is on file in the SBDM records for public viewing, |
