We are extremely saddened by the loss of our heroic crossing guard, Elaine Elgie. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of all involved. Mrs. Elgie was very dedicated to the safety of our students at Carrithers Middle School. She will be missed and her care and dedication will always be remembered.

We would like to commend Carrithers staff and the

J-Town police on their quick response and determination to shield our students from the accident scene.

Membership

I am proud to announce that we are up to 282 members so far this year! That is the most Carrithers has had in quite a long time! Unfortunately, our classroom contest for a donut breakfast did not have a winning homeroom. We were hoping for 100% participation. So, instead we had (2) $20 Target gift card drawings. Congratulations to our winners Ryan Gibson and Nicollette Clark. Our next PTSA dress down day is March 13^th for students that are PTSA members also. The student with the most memberships towards the end of the school year will also receive a gift card. If you have joined the PTSA and not yet received your membership card, please let us know so we can get one to you. You can use this card to receive special discounts at various retailers. Again, thanks to everyone for their continued support.

Volunteers

A huge thanks to all the parents who volunteered their time to chaperone field trips this year. Without you, our children would miss out on these great opportunities. And of course thanks to the teachers and staff who organize these trips!

SBDM Election

Thank you to everyone who voted in the SBDM election. We appreciate your vote. Congratulations to Christy Campbell, she is filling the open parent position on the SBDM Board. Thank you for taking on this very important position for the success of our school.

Carnations

The students enjoyed having the chance to purchase carnations on 2/13. Big thanks to Student Council for delivering all of the flowers for us at the end of the day!

Our Every 1 Reads Program is in need of new or slightly used books; please send in any books that you feel would be appropriate for middle school aged students. Thanks!

The CMS YSC Clothing Drive is collecting clothes your children are outgrowing, especially any uniforms. Thank you to everyone that has already sent in clothes, they are greatly appreciated. If you think you may be interested in serving on the PTSA Board next year, please let us know. Or feel free to email us with any questions you may have. It really isn’t a whole lot of work or time involved and it can be very rewarding. We will send home a flier towards the end of the school year.
