CARRITHERS
MIDDLE SCHOOL PTSA DECEMBER 2009 / JANUARY 2010
Membership
We did it! We passed our goal of 300 members!
We currently have 304 members! Thanks to everyone for their support! You can still
join the PTSA…we will lots more dress down days for students, gift card
drawings and contests! On the back of this newsletter is a membership form you
can fill out and send in to the school. Thanks to everyone for their continued support.
2010/2011
PTSA Board
We are still looking for parents interested
in serving on the board next year. Most of the board members this year are
parents of 8th graders, so we will not be returning next year. If
you are interested in serving on the board for the 2010/2011 school year,
please fill out the form on the back side of this newsletter and send it in to
the school office, or email cmsptsa@insightbb.com.
“Show you CARE”
Students
had the opportunity to shop for family, friends or themselves at the Holiday
Fair. The students seemed to really enjoy it! Thanks to all of our parent
volunteers who helped with this event. The PTSA does not sponsor this event as
a fundraiser but as a service to our students. We held 4 drawings for $10 gift
certificates for PTSA Members; one student from each grade and a staff member.
Congratulations to Alayna Coulter(6th),
Blake Stowe(7th). Samantha Wilder(8th),
and Mr. John Snead.
Carrithers Decals
Show
your school spirit! We still have some car decals for sale! Brand new
Carrithers decals are only a $1.00. Fill out the form on the back of this
newsletter and send in money and order form to the school and we will deliver
them to your student’s class as soon as possible!
Reminders
The CMS
YSC is always in need of clothes, especially uniforms and belts. These
items go directly to Carrithers students who need them. We participate in programs with Office
Depot, Target and Meijer. Office Depot
- CMS ID 70040572 Target - CMS ID is
54468. Meijer – CMS ID is
83649. Next time you’re shopping at any of these stores, simply go to the
customer service desk or ask a cashier to be sure a percentage of your purchase
amount goes to Carrithers! Thanks for all of your support!
Parent Portal
The
parent portal is a great way to track your child’s progress at school. This is
an easy and quick tool to find out how your child is doing…so there are no
surprises on report card day! We encourage you to use it and check it out
often. If you need any assistance, contact Ms. Cederdahl in the office at
485-8224.
Look for these newsletters to come home every
month with your child. You can also sign up to receive newsletters and
important updates via email at cmsptsa@insightbb.com.

The school crosswalk at Billtown Road
and Carrithers has finally seen some safety improvements! We recently had a
street light installed to help illuminate that area. I’m hoping for more
improvements to make it as safe as possible. I would like to acknowledge and
thank our District 20 Councilman, Stuart Benson; his legislative aide, Angela
Webster; Col. Kim Weber with JTown City Police; Lt. Doug Sweeney with Metro
Police and the JTown City Council. They have all worked together and responded
to the numerous phone calls and emails that parents have sent asking for
improvements to our crosswalk since the loss of our crossing guard, Ms. Elaine
Elgie, last year. Also, thanks to WAVE 3 news for sharing our story to help
raise awareness on the importance of school zone safety. Please just remember
to slow down in all school zones and crosswalks. Thanks! - Debbie Swartz
