School Profile
Jeffersontown High School Magnet Career Academys Liberal Arts and Engineering Science programs offer beginning and advanced courses in engineering and the liberal arts. Jeffersontown is unique in its ability to integrate college-preparatory programs with state-of-the-art technical applications. The school has developed numerous business education partnerships with the city of Jeffersontown and the surrounding Jeffersontown Bluegrass Industrial Park community. Partnerships include a number of articulation agreements with local and state post-secondary institutions. Jeffersontown High Schools mission is to prepare all students for future opportunities. Students educational experiences include job shadowing and mentoring, as well as job-placement opportunities. Assessing aptitude and providing resources for students in both liberal arts and engineering sciences is a fundamental component of the school. Students also may elect to take Advanced Placement courses and college-credit classes. Jeffersontowns foreign language offerings include French, Spanish, German, Russian, and Japanese. In addition to its nationally prominent Marine Corps JROTC Program, Jeffersontown offers students leadership opportunities in a variety of student organizations. Since its opening in 1966, Jeffersontown High School Center for Liberal Arts and Engineering Science has become an integral part of the historic city of Jeffersontown, Kentucky. A comprehensive high school that incorporates a high-technology Magnet Program, Jeffersontown High School provides a full range of academic, athletic, cocurricular, and extracurricular activities.
