School Profile
 The Fern Creek Traditional Program promotes the development of the intellect citizenship and self-discipline of its students All three areas of development are to be interwoven into the daily life of the student, with the goals of any one area dependent upon the goals of the remaining areas.
Traditional schooling requires the acceptance of; and compliance with, clearly established teacher and school guideIines. The establishment and effectiveness of these guidelines require parental attitudes of agreement and active support for school expectations and a home environment that, itself; establishes requirements for achievement and sets models for good behavior. Approval of the school by the home will help students adopt good personal and academic practices. Commitment to the Traditional Program on the part of the teachers and the administration will help parents/guardians and students understand and take full advantage of the school's resources. A coherent, planned progression of skills concepts, and knowledge will contribute to the student's sense of purpose, self-confidence, and maturity.
The school will provide a consistency of philosophy and methods in basic academic instruction, developing good citizenship, and nurturing self-discipline and respect for authority. There should be close family ties and communication between school and home. Because all aspects of the program reinforce one another, the end product of the Traditional Program is much greater than the sum of its parts. It is much more than the basic educational institution.
Admissions Policy
Students who live outside Fern Creek Traditional High School's attendance area must submit an application to the Board of Education (office of Optional, Magnet. and Advance Programs) before the student is admitted to ensure success in the Traditional Program curriculum a review is made of each applicant's scores, previous and current grades. and attendance record. Above-average academic grade performance as well as above-average attendance and tardy standards, is necessary for each student to be successful in the Traditional Program. A review of the achievements, behavior, and attendance records of referred students is done at the end of the school year.
School Programs
Fern Creek also offers the Advanced Placement Program, the Honors Program, Extended School Services, School-Based Decision Making, (Before- and After-School) YMCA/JCPS Childcare Enrichment Program, Health Promotion School of Excellence, Magnet Career Academy, Optional Program, and an intergenerational Senior Citizens Center.
