Junior Awards Program and Ring Ceremony Thursday March 18 @ 6:30 p.m RSVP with Mr. Hartigan by wednesday March 10, 2010 $25.00 junior dues on or before March 16 State Torunament Planning! -Our first Game in Lexington is on Wednesday, March 17th @ 1:30 -Were getting about 800 tickets to sells -Tickets will be around $8 and will cost a total of $15 if you want to ride the bus. There will be about 350 kids not going and a school wide event will be planned -Students not riding the busses will need to sign out or it will be considered cutting and will reslut in saturday school. -Students riding the bus must bring back a signed permission slip to do so. March 15--New Traffic Pattern MORNING ANYONE (Student, Faculty and Staff, Parent) who wants to park on campus in one of the lots can enter either entrance- Herr or Brownsboro STUDENT DROP OFF WILL BE FROM BROWNSBORO ROAD IN FRONT OF THE FINE ARTS CENTER and all traffic from Brownsboro will be condensed to one-lane. (This is the only way we can exit without cars criss-crossing.) THERE WILL BE NO THROUGH-TRAFFIC! There will be NO DROP OFFS BY ENTERING FROM HERR LANE. AFTERNOON Student pick up will only be in the area leading out of Brownsboro Road. The student parking lot on the North side, will have their own exit lane. Again-there will be no through traffic until the last bus leaves. Parking lots for staff and students have not changed NEWS FROM BETA CLUB Used Book/DVD Kosair Children's Hospital Benefit Sale (after spring break)-If you or your Beta member have used books or DVD's in good condition, please consider donating them to a worthy cause. Details for Beta Hours to be given members for their donations will be announced within the next few weeks. Coordinator of this project is Elizabeth Crush. Prom Dress Collection Project-Members are invited to donate used (or new) Prom dresses that will be given to students unable to afford their own. The dresses will go to support the work of Mrs. Yvonne Riggs, Coordinatior for Ballard's Youth Center, and the BHS PTA Clothing Assistance Program. Used dresses must be clean and in good repair. Members will receive three Beta Hours for each dress, with a maximum of six hours given. The collection will run through March 11th. Coordinator of this project is Diamond Davies. ORCHESTRA NEWS AND NOTES Congratulations to the following orchestra students for earning Distinguished and Proficient ratings at our recent Solo and Ensemble assessment on February 13th. They performed live for string adjudicators from across the state. DISTINGUSIED SOLO RATINGS Amy Bischoff, violin Chris Brown, violin Ryan Dunn, violin Casey Faley, cello Sarah Haddy, violin Samantha Jury, violin DeLorian Malone, bass Steven Miller, violin Lance Pfeiffer, violin Elizabeth Smith, violin DISTINGUSIHED ENSEMBLE RATING Kyle Barber and Elizabeth Smith, violin duet PROFICENT SOLO RATING Kelsey Benton Britney Cannon Twelve orchestra members performed with the pit orchestra for Ballard Drama department's production of Once Upon a Mattress last weekend. They spent hors and hours of time outside of school rehearsing and practicing for this event. Kudos to them and to the entire cast, crew, pit orchestra, & directors for outstanding performances! We are proud of them for the special honor!! The Dance Team (Ballard Bruinettes) will leave on Friday, March 6, for NDA Nationals in Orlando, Florida. In preparation for this trip the Dance Team will hold a Nationals Preview on Thursday, March 4, at 7 p.m. in the Large Gym. YEARBOOKS are on sale for $65.00. Send payment to Mrs. Barber in room S209.
