What is PLATO?

PLATO is an online learning environment that has several applications for students at Valley High School.

How can PLATO be used by students?

PLATO can be used in several different ways:

The primary use is for credit-recovery

  •   For students who have failed a core-content class (math, science, social studies or English)

  • Allows students to make up courses on their own in order to maintain their proper grade level
  • In order to sign up for this PLATO component, your student must schedule a meeting with his or her counselor

  Test-prep.

  • The main set is for the ACT

  •   There is also preparation packages available for the CATS tests

  •   In order to sign up for either of these packages, your student must visit the library after school on Tuesdays to meet with the PLATO Program Director.

  Skill-building

  • If your student is falling behind in a class or needs enrichmentment, they can request extra-help online

  • In order for students to be sign-up for this component of PLATO, they need to request the service through their teacher.

    • For example, your student is struggling in geometry.  Their geometry teacher is who signs them up for the skill-building exercises.

    • Many teachers offer to include the grades from PLATO as make-up or extra-credit.  Please discuss this with your student's teachers.

How do I log on to PLATO?

The website for PLATO is https://ple.platoweb.com/

Students must have their PLATO name and password in order to access the site.

Account names and passwords are available to students via Mr.Ralston or the PLATO Director.
