Quality Education Since 1957

Seneca High School's tradition of quality education has existed since 1957. Today, Seneca serves more than 1,500 students in grades nine through twelve. The Seneca High School campus is conveniently located in a residential setting that provides a productive environment for all educational activities.

Diverse Student Population

Seneca's population is racially, economically, and academically diverse. Currently, the population is 51 percent minority and 49 percent Caucasian. The school community includes International Studies students, Education and Human Services participants (which includes Pre-Law), non-English-speaking students in the English as a Second Language (ESL) Program, special needs students (including the Hearing Impaired/Oral Program), and a board-approved program for advanced (gifted and talented) students.

At Seneca, we like to display student work. We are able to do this with culminating projects toward the end of the ninth-, tenth-, and eleventh-grade years. In ninth grade, students participate in "The Pageant of World History." In tenth grade, students participate in "The World Culture Bizarre." At this event, students make presentations about different countries throughout the world and sample food from foreign lands. Finally, in the eleventh grade, students participate in "The Really Big Show," where they put on a musical for middle school students, Seneca students, faculty, and parents.

Teach, Lead Create

Seneca's faculty is committed to developing the communication skills of all students. The ultimate goal of the faculty and staff of Seneca is to help students investigate their options in a challenging and exciting educational atmosphere. Seneca's emphasis for 2011-12 is T.L.C., which means Teach, Lead, Create. We want our students to feel confident in their education. We want them to have confidence in working with others, learning the necessary material to do well in their futures, and taking positive risks while helping others and themselves.

Everyone Needs a Little Support

An integral part of Seneca is the support system of counselors, the Youth Services Center (YSC), and the job development planner of the Louisville Education and Employment Partnership (LEEP). Seneca is dedicated to its students and develops and implements programs to meet its students' needs and help students succeed.
