The
1966-1967 football season, on November 4, 1966 before school was over, we had a
"little" unexpected snow. The snow started falling, falling, and falling.
By the time it ended we had over 13" inches of snow in one school day.The boys, coaches, and some of the fans had already made the trip when the football game was canceled because the field was covered with snow. They decided that the game would be rescheduled after the snow was gone but, boys being boys, they decided to play in the snow. They made very large snowballs, had snowball fights, and built large snowmen all along the field. When the game finally did get played the next week, PRP won 33-6 and someone from the Valley side had purchased a plastic snowman that they presented to PRP for their victory.
It did not stop there because some of the boys decided that they wanted to make a paper mache' snowman to be given yearly to the winner of the PRP-Valley football game, putting the score on the snowman for each game as it was played. Thus the SNOWMAN was born. The last game was played in 1998 and now the snowman is resting comfortably at PRP with no plans of making a return trip down the highway any time soon.

over the years Valley has won the snowman 21 times and PRP has won him 12. The snowman now peacefully rests in his rightful home at PRP and our plans are to keep him warm and safe for many years to come.
