Attendance & Truancy Prevention

Rebekah Craig, Coordinator

When students accumulate a large number of absences and/or tardies, you can expect that someone knows! The names of those students are given to appropriate person so that someone can follow up with them and his/her parents and hopefully solve the problem. In addition to tracking attendance, you can apply for fee waivers through this office. Please see below for a quick overview of PRP's attendance and truancy policy.

  • A student is considered truant after three unexcused absences.

  • An excused absence is defined as an illness, death in the family, or family emergency. A note explaning the absence must be brought in by the student upon their return to school. Their parent/guardian or doctor must sign the note. This note should be turned into the main office or the students first period teacher.

  • In addition, when a student is absent from school, their parent or guardian should call 485-8311 to notify the school.
