Athletic Motto:

To brag little, to show up well, to crow gently when in luck, to own up, to pay up, and to shut up when beaten.

From the beginning of organized sports in schools, Male High School has excelled in athletics. Numerous players have achieved success at the college and professional levels.

Male's football history began in 1893. Male currently ranks third in the nation in all-time high school football wins. This success can best be seen by the record of the Male vs. Manual games, 76-39-6, in the "Old Rivalry". This series of games is the oldest high school rivalry west of the Allegheny Mountains.

The boys' basketball team won the 7th Region Title and competed in the Sweet Sixteen in 1993, 2000 and 2001. In addition, Male has had more students named Mr. Basketball than any other school in Kentucky. The Lady Bulldogs basketball team went to the State Final Four in 1994 and 1996. The boys track team won its 27th state championship in June.

The track team has won more state championships than any
