Putt-Putt for charity? Why not? Each year, the yearbook and newspaper staffs host a “friendly” competition to raise money for good causes.
This year (and for years to come) the recipient was The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The yearbook class of ‘07 worked hard to make it a success, fueled by the love of our own teacher, Mr. Johnson. His and Ms. Helson’s younger daughter Moira was diagnosed with leukemia last school year. Ten teams of 37 students and staff assembled to raise money and play a round at Renaissance Fun Park. Each putter gathered donations and joined a putt-putt team for the day. An amazing $1,200 was raised. What a great feeling!
“I was absolutely astounded by the generosity of the students and staff. It was so awesome seeing so many people in Leukemia and Lymphoma Society tee-shirts running around having a great time. I can’t wait until it’s newspaper’s turn to host it next year,” Ms. Helson said. |
