A madrigal is a polyphonic song using a vernacular text and written for four to six voices, developed in Italy in the 16th century and popular in England in the 16th and early 17th centuries. A madrigal is held every year at Middletown Methodist Church during Christmas time. The Eastern Singers recreated a madrigal for the community; food and entertainment were provided.

Many students tried out for roles, but only about 30 were selected. The students that participated were asked to learn the culture that corresponded with the time as they would be talking to the guests, singing, and dancing.
