Ice hockey may not be one of the most well known sports at Eastern, but that does not diminish the abilities of the team. The team has many strong leaders, has gained confidence, and continuously has learned the value of hard work.
The hockey team has many amazing leaders. Omar Lyman helps his teammates improve on passing and shooting and is a leader on and off of the ice. Jared Boos gives his teammates confidence during games. His aggressive play shows the team that they have nothing to fear when playing hard against their opponents. Nick Stanley, Kim Dickerson, and Artyom Madorsky are very motivating as well. They are always positive and constantly keep the team up. There is no doubt that a team will find success when such strong leaders are present.
Since last year, the hockey team has improved a great deal on their skating. Their fundamentals have become more solid. In addition, the team as a whole has gained much more confidence in their abilities. Last year, the team relied on three main players and struggled from a mental standpoint when these leaders were not in the game. This year, however, the team has gained a great deal of confidence. This was proven after a loss to Oldham County; instead of being discouraged, the team members took the loss as a challenge for the next game. They now feel that they can play against any team and win, and that is the attitude necessary for success.
The hockey team is quickly learning that hard work always pays off and is constantly improving. With all of their dedication, the team looks forward to many future successes.
