About the Chorale Program

The Eastern Chorale has received consistent Distinguished ratings at both District and State Festivals and it’s enrollment has more than doubled since 1998. In February of 2003, the Advanced Women’s Choir performed at the Kentucky Music Educator’s Association’s State Convention. Fourteen members of the Eastern Chorale were members of the 2008 Kentucky All-State Choir and this ensemble also performed at the K.M.E.A. State Convention in 2005. The Chorale has performed at numerous historical venues including St. Patrick’s in Washington D.C. and the National Shrine at the Basilica. The most memorable achievement of these young singers, however, was their 2002 National Youth Choir performance in Carnegie Hall under the direction of the late Moses Hogan.

Eastern High School boasts five different choral ensembles which include Beginning Men’s and Women’s Choruses, Advanced Girl’s Choir, Eastern Madrigal Singers, and the Eastern Chorale.

The Eastern High School Madrigal Singers placed second in the University of Louisville Margaret Comstock Chamber Singers Competition in 2006 and again in 2008. The E.H.S. Chorale was the only high school in Jefferson County chosen to participate in the 2006 WUOL Choral Christmas Extravaganza broadcast. In December of 2007 the EHS Chorale was also the only high school in Kentucky chosen to perform at Governor Steve Beshear's inauguration.  In February of 2008 the Chorale was invited to perform Berlioz's "Romeo and Juliet" with the Louisville Orchestra and the University of Louisville's Collegiate Chorale.
