Central High Magnet Career Academy is a four-year accredited comprehensive high school located in the business sector of downtown Louisville. Central maintains a focus on college-preparatory classes and utilizes the resources of Louisville's central business, government, and medical districts to supplement the teaching and learning process for academically gifted students in the Advance, Honors, and Comprehensive programs. Our specialized curricula comprise 10 magnet areas designed to prepare students for college or other post-secondary education while introducing them to career possibilities.

Numerous scholarship opportunities are available to our graduates. More than 92 percent of Central's Law and Government Magnet graduates continue their education at Harvard, Princeton, Brown, Hanover, Xavier, UK, and U of L, just to name a few.
School-to-Work
Central is a leader in School-to-Work efforts. Each year hundreds of visitors come to discover the secret to our success. Central was chosen by Jobs for the Future to implement School-to-Work programs and was chosen as one of five Benchmark Community Sites in the nation. Central was the only school in the state of Kentucky to be recognized by Business Week Magazine/McGraw-Hill Publisher for outstanding School-to-Work programs.
