Principal's Message

I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy New Year as we enter the remainder of the 2010-2011 school year. It is hard to believe that this school year is almost two thirds complete. We are preparing for the KCCT (Kentucky Core Content Test) Assessment that begins April 20th. The results of this test are used to evaluate the school program in the state accountability system. I encourage you to challenge your students to do their very best.

Butler was recently selected by the US News and World Report as one of the best high schools in America. This honor was based on an analysis of over 21,000 public schools nationwide. Butler was selected as a Bronze Medal School. In addition, Butler was one of four JCPS High Schools to receive Mayor Jerry Abramson’s Top Apple Award. This award is given to schools that make the greatest gains in student achievement in the area of reading each year.  Butler students and staff also donated $3,112.00 to the American Red Cross to help support the Haitian disaster relief humanitarian efforts. Way to go, Bears!

I want to point out, again, how critical your child’s attendance is to the education process. Butler continues to rank in the upper echelon in attendance in Jefferson County, and we are striving to do even better. Please continue to push your child to do his/her very best and be the best Bear he/she can be. Thanks and have a great Butler day!
